Academic Information
K-12 Charter
The State of Florida requires that every teacher hold a valid Florida certification in the subject that he or she is teaching. All teachers at Innovation Montessori Ocoee are fully certified.

However, there are additional requirements that have been implemented within the last several years. One specific requirement is that all teachers must be ESOL certified (English Speakers of Other Languages). Non-elementary and non-Language Arts teachers are required to take one course. Elementary and Language Arts teachers are required to take 6 courses. The state allows them to take the 6 courses over a 5-year period. Until recently, a teacher was considered in compliance, or in-field, as long as he or she was enrolled in the necessary course or courses to meet the additional requirements. A recent change in statutes has been made that requires teachers to be listed as "out-of-field" until all course work has been completed, even if he or she is currently enrolled in the necessary course or courses. Even though a letter is sent home each year to parents of those teachers considered out-of-field, a more recent change in statute requires schools to post those teachers on their web sites. Above is a listing of the teachers at Innovation Montessori whom the state considers out-of-field, and the areas in which they are considered out-of-field:

Controlled Open Enrollment Capacity Transfer (COEC)
Eligibility for this transfer is described below: An open enrollment Transfer allows a family to transfer from any school, whether it is a OCPS district school or not, to a school that has available capacity. Relevant factors are as follows:

Transfers still follow the lottery application process on our school site.

Seats are offered to students seeking an “open enrollment capacity transfer” only after all those in lottery waitlist within the Orange County, Florida district have been offered a seat

The student must stay for the entire school year, unless there is a change of address

Transportation is not provided by Innovation Montessori

Transfers may be revoked if the student is excessively tardy to school, remains at school beyond the dismissal time without prior arrangements with school officials, or is referred to the principal for disciplinary action.
Priority for the Transfer shall be given to the following groups:

Students residing in Orange County, Florida and accepted through the lottery

Dependent children of active duty military personnel whose move resulted from military orders

Children who have been relocated due to foster care placement in a different school zone

Children who move due to a court-ordered change in custody due to separation or divorce, or the serious illness or death of a custodial parent
